The Tri-County News took home another award at this year's Minnesota Newspaper Association convention. This year, it was the "Best Self-Promotion Advertisement" category, and we were judged among a larger group of newspapers up to double our circulation.
Sue Hughes, our multiple award-winning graphic designer, took second place for an ad she created in last year's Business Tab in March. (That ad is on page 22 this week.)
There were only six awards in this category, from among weekly and daily newspapers across Minnesota. The Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association judged this year's contest.
The judges had this to say: "The message is clear - this newspaper represents their community in every way. They support the community, and they ask the residents to support each other as well."
Sue has more than 20 years of professional experience in design and advertising. She has a degree from Brown College (with honors), and worked at the St. Cloud Times for many years. She has won a number of awards for her various ads and ad campaigns, and she has won awards for the Tri-County News each year that she's been with us.
We're thrilled to have had Sue on our staff for several years now. She brings fresh and vibrant ideas and designs to our ads of all sizes. And she's been invaluable to the several special issues we produce each year.
Sue also does photo restoration and web design. You can check out her web page at www.suzq-imagine.com.
Congratulations, and a giant "Thank you!" to Sue Hughes for her latest award.
