Lucille Simmons of Watkins died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. She was 90.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins, with Fr. John Brunner officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 8-10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
Lucille M. Simmons was born July 5, 1919, to Ferdinand and Anna (Rausch) Adolph. She married Orwin J. Simmons in 1937 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They farmed in the Watkins area. Her husband Orwin died in 1986.
Lucille was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and was active with the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Watkins Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included fishing, dancing, playing cards, and quilting. She especially enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orwin; son Howard; daughter Shirley Keller; granddaughter Christine Simmons; and sister Marian Steman.
She is survived by her children DuWayne (and Marilys) Simmons of Sauk Rapids, Franklin (and Irene) Simmons of Santa Maria, Calif., LeRoy (and Sharon) Simmons of Watkins, Allen (and Sandra) Simmons of Watkins, David (and Kathy) Simmons of North Pole, Alaska, Jeanene (and David) Brough of Salem, Ind.; son-in-law Jim Keller of Fairbanks, Alaska; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Music will be provided by Mary Streit and the church choir. Casket bearers will be Shawn Simmons, Aaron Simmons, Troy Simmons, Chad Simmons, Loren Simmons, and Drew Brough.
