St. Cloud VA Medical Center to Hold Educational/Support Session on Supporting Children Through the Cycle of Deployment

session to be held at the St. Cloud Public Library's Bremer Room

St. Cloud, MN--The St. Cloud VA Medical Center will hold an educational/support meeting for Veterans, family members of returning service members, and other interested members of the community on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the St. Cloud Public Library.

VA Clinical Social Workers, Mike Mathies and Connie Selden will offer information on resources for parents and children to help support them through the cycle of deployment.  The meeting will also offer an opportunity for discussion about the challenges and responsibilities of parenting during and after deployments.  The meeting is free and open to the public and all adults with interest in this topic are encouraged to attend.

"This is particularly timely with the return of the Minnesota National Guard's Red Bulls over the next few weeks and the recent deployment of the Army Reserves 367th Engineer Battalion," said Mike Mynczywor, Manager for the VA's Operation Enduring and Iraqi Freedom Program.  "These families can use all the support our community can offer.  We want them to know we are here to help," Mynczywor said.

The St. Cloud VA Medical Center's Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom Program welcomes Veterans home and helps coordinate their VA care.  For more information for VA health care for returning Veterans, call the Operation Enduring Freedom / Operation Iraqi Freedom Program line, (320) 255-6453.
