Suspicious man calls on Rockville home

Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office received information of a suspicious incident/person that occurred Monday, Jan. 11, about 3 p.m. A Rockville resident living in a more rural area reported that a man came to her home at that time, and said he was conducting a survey for the city of Rockville. The man asked the woman resident if her husband was home and she answered that he was. The man then left and said he would be back later to complete the survey.

He is described as a white male, around five feet, six inches tall, with a medium build. He appeared to be about 40-45 years of age with blondish/reddish hair. He also had a full beard and mustache which was well groo ed. He was driving an older green Chevrolet pickup.

The city administrator for Rockville advises that the city is not conducting any surveys at this time. Anyone with information about this incident or the person, is asked to contact the Stearns County Sheriff's Office at (320) 251-4240.

The Sheriff's Office released information on this matter Tuesday. As of this time, we have not had any contact with the individual in question. However, several citizens have called in to the Sheriff's Office with information about the man after having contacty with him.

From the information provided, it appears that the man is in the area going door to door selling insurance for a company out of Iowa. All the calls received Wednesday, Jan. 13, indicated that this was an insurance call and there was no mention of a survey being conducted by the individual.

The Sheriff's Office is interested in contacting the individual to verify his business, however, no longer consider the activity suspicious in nature.
