Roland Schmidt of Annandale died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 56.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. Visitation will be at the church two hours before the service.
Roland D. Schmidt was born Oct. 29, 1953, to Darrel Franklin and Elizabeth Joan (De Chaney) Schmidt in St. Cloud. Rollie served his country as a Marine. He was the owner of Independent Curb Contractors, Inc. He was a man of great faith in his Lord, Jesus Christ, serving his community in many ways by being an active member at Concordia Lutheran Church, where he served on various boards. He served as president of Chain of Lakes for several years, adjutant for the Kimball Legion, and his dedicated involvement with the AA program. Rollie loved to fish, observe nature, garden, and spend time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as an honest, generous, kind-hearted man with a wonderful sense of humor, who would do anything for anyone.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty.
Roland is survived by his loving wife Jeanne of 30 years; children Nick and Emily; father Darrel; brother Tom (and Lou); sisters Natalie (and Chuck) Johnson, Julie (and Steve) Shirley; brother-in-law Bob (and Lee) Gill; also many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Arrangements were by Cremation Society of Minnesota in Brooklyn Park.
