EV-W-K cross country

Thursday, Oct. 22, the Cross Country Team competed at the Howard Lake Invitational meet at the Greens Golf Course in Howard Lake. There were 15 teams competing, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Cambridge-Isanti, Waconia, Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Annandale, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Litchfield, Maple Lake, Pierz, Rockford, Royalton, St. John's Prep, Staples-Motley, and Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity. Head Coach Holly Hansen said, "Lots of great athletes. We are continuing to improve our times and team scores. We had two junior high runners try JV last night, three ribbons on JH. Our girls' varsity team was 3 points behind Maple Lake last week, and were 13 points ahead of them this week. I am seeing the things you hope to see by the end of the season (even if it is a chilly one), the girls and boys are still working hard and improving their times. They are doing a great job of working together as a team so that all are achieving success."

The girls' varsity team placed seventh. The EV-W-K individual finishers were: Molly Hesse placed 19th in a time of 17:21, Tanya Maciejewski 24th-17:37, Larissa Anthofer 41st-18:00, Kelsey Vigoren 42nd-18:01, Raelyn Callander 45th-18:04, Renee Berg 63rd-19:20 and Jennifer Notch 67th-19:48.

In the boys' varsity meet, Jacob Asfeld placed 68th in a time of 21:37 and Brett Mattice 71st in a time of 21:52.

The girls' junior varsity placed fourth. The junior varsity finishers were: Brooke Winter 12th in a time of 19:57, Bethany Libbesmeier 15th-20:05, Madeline VanderMay 21st-20:26, Samantha Stuve 23rd-20:35, Kayla Overland 35th-21:26, Megan Libbesmeier 53rd-23:24, Olivia Fischer 55th-23:33, Mckenzie Libbesmeier 61st-24:35 and Ashley Trout 62nd-25:08.

In the junior high girls' race Grace Kopitzke placed second in a time of 12:28, Stephanea Roeser sixth-12:31 and Maria Roeser ninth-12:59.

The varsity girls and Boys compete this Thursday, Oct. 29, in the section 6a meet at the Long Prairie Golf Club in Long Prairie.
