James Kyander of Kimball died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. He was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins with Rev. Jon Albert officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home Thursday. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Garden in Crystal.
James H. Kyander was born Aug. 17, 1925, at French Lake in Wright County to Fred and Hilda (Buranen) Kyander. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. James married Minnie Rudquist. They had two children Don and Marilyn.
James was employed as a truck driver in Minneapolis for several years before working at the maintenance department of the University of Minnesota from 1959 to 1987. James married Eleanor Olson and they resided in Brooklyn Center. Eleanor died in 1990, and James moved to the Kimball area. He was a member of the American Legion, and his hobbies included fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor and six brothers and sisters.
James is survived by his children Don (and Elaine) Kyander of Bellwood, Neb., and Marilyn (and Chuck) Mckusick of St. Louis Park; grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and sister Marion Sandy of St. Cloud.
