In cooperation with the MN Job Service, Minnesota Department of Economic Development (DEED) in partnership with the Warrior to Citizen Central Minnesota Initiative we invite businesses from Central Minnesota to participate and attend our Yellow Ribbon event to assist in supporting our troops Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.
The Employer Seminar will provide the attending businesses the opportunity to learn about and ask questions about the hot topic of FMLA, the Family Medical Leave Act. This will be presented by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL).
We will also have Jodi Bean and Kevin Nagel, who work for the USDOL, Veterans Employment and Training Service, make a presentation regarding USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act). They will be discussing what the laws are, recent changes and what the businesses obligations are.
Also included will be Megan Riffe, Employer Liaison for the 34th Infantry Division, presenting the Yellow Ribbon Program and how local businesses can participate. From the ESGR, (Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve) the presentation will include an overview of what services they have to provide to businesses and military service members.
The Seminar will start at 8:30 a.m., and is scheduled to be completed by 1 p.m. There will be a continental breakfast available that is sponsored by the Veterans Employment Service (DEED). Check in starts at 8 a.m., and the seminar will be held at the Eagles Club, 730 41st Avenue North, St. Cloud. Businesses must be pre-registered.
