Alma Peglow of Rice died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at the Pierz Villa. She was 102.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran church in Rice with Rev. Robert Trinklein officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church in Rice. Church prayers will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids. Burial will be in the Fairhaven Cemetery.
Alma L. Peglow was born Jan. 31, 1907, in Maine Prairie Township (Stearns County) to William and Bertha (Erdmann) Keske. She married Arthur G. Peglow June 10, 1933, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dixville. Arthur died Feb. 8, 1982. She has lived most of her life in the Rice area. She was a member of Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice.
Alma worked out of the home as nanny, waitress, housekeeper, and cashier at SCSU. She loved the farm and the animals. She raised registered dogs, sheep and cattle. Alma enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, flowers, and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur; son Arthur P Sept. 8, 1985; brothers Albert and Emil Keske; sister Martha Templin; grandson Donald Vannurden; and great-grandson Steven Pekarek.
Alma is survived by her daughter Evangeline "Mickey" (and Wilbert) Vannurden of Royalton; daughter-in-law Carol Peglow of South Haven; sister Rosaline (and Alvin) Stumvoll of Foley; 11 grandchildren Susan (and Henry) Pekarek of Foley, Sharon (and Robert) Fordlee of Sartell, Sandra (and Leander) Girtz of Royalton, Richard (and Becky Jo) Vannurden of Royalton, Rebecca Kaye (and Matt) Albright of Royalton, Jennifer (and Jed) Vandenheuvel of Royalton, Timothy (and Leslie) Peglow of Kimball, Sarah (and Thomas) Zipoy of Kimball, Roger (and Dawn) Peglow of Ogilvie, Jason Peglow of South Haven, Artie (and Rachel) Peglow of Eagan; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
