The Express defeated Rockford in the first round of the region 11C tournament by the score of 6 to 1. Matt Dingmann had another strong start, earning the win on the mound. Dingmann pitched seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and struck out two Rockford batters. Offensively, Adam Theis and Adam Beyer both had two hits apiece. The win improves Kimball's record to 20-13 overall.
In round two of the tournament the Express defeated Howard Lake 5 to 3. Kimball jumped out to an early five-nothing lead, when Aaron Knaus had a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning. Adam Theis started for the Express and earned the pitching win. Theis went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. Zach Laudenbach, a draftee from St. Augusta, earned the save, pitching the last 3 and 1/3 innings. The win improves Kimball's record to 21-13 overall and advances them into the region 11C finals that will be played this Friday night, Aug. 14, vs. Watkins in Howard Lake. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
