The "Kimball Gold" little leaguers ended their season by winning the league championship tournament and finishing their season undefeated at 26-0.

Nineteen area teams set out with the goal of finishing their season strong and staking claim of the league championship. Being undefeated on the season may have added a little extra pressure for Kimball Gold but the kids rose to every occasion when tested.

The tournament journey included three victories for Gold over Richmond Maroon, Rockville and Cold Spring Blue, setting up the championship game against Cold Spring Orange.

The Championship game was a wonderfully played game with our local heroes finding themselves down 3-2 with 2 outs in the top of the 6th (we only play 7). Luke Merten started a rally with a clean base hit followed by successful at bats by Brady Faber and Will Spaulding, which set up a dream situation for Ted Zipoy. With 2 outs and the bases loaded with the team down by one, Ted delivered with a game-tying single that opened the flood gates.

Tanner Mills later delivered a bases-clearing triple and Jordan Joseph capped the season off with a monstrous grand slam, making the final score Kimball 15 and Cold Spring 3, but both will tell you that the spot light of this game belonged to Luke, Ted and the bottom of our order. It was a genuinely great team win.

Congratulations to the kids for making this a special season! The entire team grew both on and off the field.
