Tom Marquardt of Kimball is one of four men named to the 2009 Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. He just learned of this last week. Tom has played for the Kimball town team since 1974. In fact, he was instrumental in changing the name from the Kimball Prairie Dogs to the Kimball Express (in 2001).
Not only has Tom played for 35 seasons now, but he has been a manager for 15 years. Tom was a moving force behind the beautiful, modern field we now have in Kimball. He is also involved in coaching, umpiring, and training a new generation of ball players at the annual Railyard Rookie Camp he organized.
Tom and his wife Cindy live in Kimball. His "day job" is as service manager at Arnold's of Kimball.
Marquardt will be honored at a September banquet in St. Cloud.
