On Sept. 28, 2006, the Public Works Department will be flushing the water mains. Flushing the water mains pulls out settled iron and manganese that pose no health danger, but do create a problem with discoloration and/or sedimentation.
We encourage homeowners to do the same flushing after we've been in your area by opening outside spigots on your home. It is also recommended that you flush your water heater after the mains have been flushed. This can be done by simply opening the spigot at the bottom of the tank and letting it run until the water clears. The city will try to have the flushing completed by Thursday evening, Sept. 28, 2006. (If weather does not permit flushing on the 28th, then the flushing will be done on the 29th). If you have any questions, call the Public Works Department at (320) 398-8991. Published in the Tri-County
