Kimball's C-squad volleyball team hosted the Ogilvie Lions Tuesday, Aug. 26. The young Cubs played well for their first match of the season and before school has begun. There were obviously first game jitters, but they soon got over those and played some good volleyball. Highlights of the match was the serving of Ashlyn Jendro and Olivia Fischer. They each served for a total of 14 and ended up with 100 percent and 92 percent serving stats. The entire team served for a successful 86 percent and a total of 17 aces in their serving. Ashlyn had six aces and Olivia, Erin Dingmann and Nicole Orth each had three ace serves as well. Way to go Cubs! Of course, one of our goals is the set up the ball and attack. We did a nice job of attempting several attacks and our net play was good for a first match. We are constantly working on our passing to reach even more setting attempts so we can hit the ball. As a team we attempted 15 sets, 10 were good sets and we had 4 kills off those sets. Our game scores were 25-20; 25-11; and 15-8 with Kimball winning all three games and the match. This week, we are at home Thursday, Sept. 4, against Pierz and look forward to another exciting match of volleyball.
