Dorothy Vossen of St. Cloud, formerly of Watkins, died Aug. 18, 2008, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. She was 95. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Aug. 21 at the
St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Rev. John Brunner officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Dorothy E. Vossen was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Forest City Township, Meeker County, to Henry and Katherine (Wittman) Vossen. She grew up and received her pri-
mary education in the Watkins
area. Dorothy continued her education earning a Master's degree in nursing. She worked for many years as the Director of Nursing at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., where she began a nursing scholarship program which is still in effect today. Dorothy was very community-oriented and did extensive community service while living in Omaha. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, reading, and playing cards. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Viola Vossen, and brothers Victor, Gilbert,
Alphonse and Robert Vossen. She is survived by sister-in-law Mary Lou Vossen of Indiana, Penn., as well as nieces and nephews. Music was provided by Mary Streit and the church choir. Gift-bearers were Laura Vossen and
Patrice Harley. Pallbearer was Mary Lou Vossen. Casketbearers were Laura Vossen, Joe Sexton, Joanie Lanpher, Denise Sexton, and Rick Lanpher.
