Jerry Lee Thompson, 49, of South Haven made his first appearance in Stearns County Court Monday, Aug. 18. He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, and several other felony charges - a total of nine charges - after events in Fairhaven Township the morning of Aug. 5. Thompson was shot by deputies after a slow-speed pursuit. He was being treated at Hennepin County Medical Center. Once released from the hospital, Thompson was booked into Stearns County Jail. He appeared before Judge Elizabeth Hayden Monday. Bail was set at $1.5 million. He will next appear at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13.
