The Meeker County Sheriff's Office received a phone call from the Eden Valley Police Department at 9:34 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, reporting that someone had found an explosive device while cleaning out a storage shed. That person had brought it to their city hall/police department. The Eden Valley City Hall was evacuated and the sheriff's office contacted the Minneapolis Bomb Squad for assistance. The bomb squad arrived in Eden Valley at around 11:40 a.m. and, using special equipment, the explosive device was removed,
secured and detonated at a remote location. Meeker County Sheriff's Office collected the materials from the explosive device to be tested by Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Assisting on the scene was the Eden Valley Police Department, Eden Valley Fire
Department and Rescue Squad, Watkins Rescue/Ambulance, Watkins Police Department and the Minneapolis Bomb Squad. The Meeker County Sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
