Hannah Zipoy qualifies to compete in the Minnesota State Brain Bee competition this week at the University of Minnesota.
The Brain Bee is a Neuroscience competition targeting high school students. Started by
Dr. Norbert Myslinski at the University of Maryland in 1999, the competition fosters interest in Neuroscience among teenagers.
At Kimball Area High School, Hannah is a student in Ms. Kim Pelzer's Medical Terminology class. The class recently completed an online segment of the competition with the top 30 students from participating schools advancing to state competition.
The types of questions deal with such topics as brain anatomy, neuro degenerative diseases, addiction, sleep and memory.
The winner at the state competition becomes eligible to advance to national competition in Baltimore, Md.
