Fatal accident on Hwy. 15

At 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, Randy Alamo's Mazda Protege went onto the shoulder of Highway 15 heading south; he overcorrected causing the car to swing into the path of an oncoming semi truck hauling grain. The truck driver, Darrell Albertson of Fergus Falls, tried to avoid a collision but struck the car broadside, on the driver's door. Alamo, 28 of Watkins, was dead on the scene. The truck driver was shaken but not physically injured. According to the State Patrol, both the car and truck sustained serious damage. That same report stated that the semi driver was wearing a seatbelt and Alamo was not.

St. Joseph man stabbed

Thursday, May 5, at about 9:36 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff's Office received a report that a 48-year-old man had been stabbed and needed medical attention. The suspect who did the stabbing was identified as Jacob Terwey, age 50 of St. Joseph, and the report stated that he was still at the residence. Jacob Terwey left the residence a short time later driving an all-terrain vehicle. He was later stopped by a St. Joseph Police Officer, and detained until Sheriff's Deputies arrived.

The stabbing victim was treated at the scene by members of the St. Joseph Rescue Squad and taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance. The victim underwent surgery for several wounds to his abdominal and thigh areas.

Jacob Gerald Terwey was arrested for first-degree assault, held in the Stearns County Jail, charged with felony second-degree assault, and released on $25,000 bail. Deputies are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Cabins burglarized in Avon T'ship

Three burglaries have been reported to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. These burglaries were in cabins near the public access area of Upper Spunk Lake in Avon Township, believed to have happened between May 3 and

May 4.

The items stolen include firearms, alcohol, and fishing equipment.

Two Willmar men arrested in rural Watkins for theft

Tuesday, May 3, the Meeker County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Waite Park Police Department advising that they located two four-wheelers and a two-place snowmobile trailer reported stolen in Meeker County on May 2 from two different locations in the rural Watkins area. Three persons were detained for being in possession of the stolen property. An investigator from the Sheriff's Office traveled to Stearns County and spoke with the suspects.

Two of the suspects admitted to being involved in the theft of the two four-wheelers, and also the snowmobile trailer that was stolen at the same time as the second four-wheeler. At the time of their arrest, the suspects were also in possession of a pickup truck that was reported earlier to be stolen in Renville County. Investigation determined the third suspect was not involved and was released with no charges.

Both suspects are being held pending formal charges. The first suspect is a 17-year-old juvenile male from Willmar. The second suspect, currently being held in the Stearns County Jail, is Chase John Hodapp, 20 years of age, also of Willmar. Both of these individuals are also suspects in multiple arson and theft incidents in Kandiyohi County, and the City of Willmar.

Wright County Sheriff's Office

On May 3, Darrell Randy Muehlenhardt, 30, of Annandale was arrested in Annandale on the charge of 5th degree controlled substance violation.

On May 4, Ryan Joseph Boon, 35, of Annandale was arrested in Buffalo on Wright County warrants for 5th degree controlled substance violation.

On May 5, Michael James Bressler, 28, of Annandale was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for criminal vehicular operation.

On May 6, Bethany Lynn Pletcher, 22, of Annandale was arrested in Maple Lake on the charge of 5th degree domestic assault.

On May 6, Richard Edward Barnes, 48, of Annandale was arrested in Southside Township for 5th degree criminal sexual conduct and disorderly conduct.

On May 6, Ryan Gene Nutter, 24, of Annandale was arrested in Buffalo Township for fleeing police in a motor vehicle and reckless driving.

On May 8, Jody Marie Stevens, 32, of Annandale was arrested in Annandale for 2nd degree DWI.

There were 14 Property Damage Accidents, no Personal Injury Accidents, 4 Hit-and-Run Accidents and 1 Car-Deer Accident.

There were 6 arrests for DWI, 7 Underage Consumption arrests, no School Bus Stop Arm Violations, and 82 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations issued this week.

Monday, May 9

1:41 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Central Avenue South, Watkins. One individual was transported to St Cloud Hospital.

4:35 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm at a business on 3rd Street North, Watkins. The deputy was canceled prior to arrival, as the alarm was due to the weather.

Sunday, May 8

5:32 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted with a civil issue occurring on 365th Street, Watkins. The deputy advised an individual of their options.

Saturday, May 7

3:24 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the ditch near a residence on 677th Avenue, Watkins. The deputy checked the area, found no one around and had the vehicle towed.

3:16 p.m. the Sheriff's Office observed a suspicious vehicle on 340th Street, Watkins. Upon further investigation by the deputy, everything was found to be okay.

4:43 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted a motorist with a stalled vehicle on MN Highway 15 and US Highway 12, Dassel.

5:32 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted an individual with a stalled vehicle on MN Highway 15 and US Highway 12, Dassel.

Friday, May 6

12:11 a.m. the Sheriff's Deputy while on patrol came upon suspicious activity at a business on MN Highway 55, Watkins. The Deputy found everything to be fine at the business.

12:02 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a barking dog complaint on Shire Road North, Watkins.

1:45 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a car/deer accident on County State Aid Highway 34, Eden Valley. A deputy responded and removed the deer from the roadway. No injuries were reported.

2:54 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Fire to a report of a grass fire at a residence on 237th Street, Darwin. It was found to be a small grass fire contained to the owner's property. The fire was extinguished.

3:44 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a civil matter at a residence on Meeker Avenue South, Watkins. The party was advised of their options.

3:48 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received information regarding a theft at a business on MN Highway 55, Eden Valley.

5:07 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a deactivated cellular 9-1-1 hang up call from a residence on 362nd Street, Watkins. A deputy responded and found all to be okay.

7:09 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions near the intersection of 360th Street and 670th Avenue, Watkins. The deputy checked the area and requested that the Meeker County Highway Department be dispatched. The Highway Department repaired the area, which resolved the issue.

Thursday, May 5

2:14 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Douglas Drive, Eden Valley. There was no transport.

6:14 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Rescue and Fire, and Gold Cross Ambulance to a report of a one-vehicle rollover on MN Highway 15, Dassel. No one was found to be in or around the vehicle upon arrival. The MN State Patrol was also on scene and took the report.

9:25 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical on Luella Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

5:18 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible scam attempt at a residence on 350th Street, Watkins.

8:25 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a suspicious individual at a residence on MN Highway 55, Watkins. The deputy found that the individual had run out of gas.

10:24 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a suspicious activity at a business on 4th Street North, Watkins. The deputy found everything to be okay at the business.

Wednesday, May 4

1:13 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance and Rescue to a medical at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

4:43 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Fire to a report of a vehicle on fire at a residence on 318th Street, South Haven. There were no injuries. The owner was working on the vehicle at the time and the vehicle had little to no value.

4:49 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Rescue and Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Cedar Avenue South, Watkins. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

5:46 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance per the Stearns County Sheriff's Office to a medical at the Kimball Fire Hall. Watkins Ambulance was cancelled a short time later.

7:44 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm at a residence on 743rd Avenue, South Haven. The deputy found everything to be okay at the residence.

Tuesday, May 3

1:42 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Eden Valley Fire for a structure fire on Meeker Avenue East, Eden Valley. A short time later Watkins Fire was dispatched for mutual aid. A fire in the roof that was caused by workers soldering was extinguished.

2:14 p.m. the Sheriff's Office per the request of Stearns County, dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of MN Highway 15 and County Road 147, Stearns County. No transport was needed. (See story about the fatal car v. semi accident above.)

4:11 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible grass fire on 355th Street, Watkins. Upon arrival, a deputy determined it was a controlled burn and a valid burning permit had been issued.

10:34 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a probation violation at a business on Central Avenue North, Watkins.

11:42 p.m. a Sheriff's Deputy came across an abandoned vehicle on County State Aid Highway 2 near MN Highway 55, Watkins. The vehicle was unoccupied and not a road hazard.

Monday, May 2

5:40 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a theft report from a residence on County State Aid Highway 2, Watkins.

8:25 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Glenshire Boulevard North, Watkins.

1:03 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at an address on Church Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to St Cloud Hospital.

4:28 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a theft report from a residence on 340th Street, Watkins.

6:22 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Rescue and Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Church Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

7:34 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical near the intersection of State Street North and Central Avenue West, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

10:06 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of a driving complaint near Meeker Stearns Avenue and 632nd Avenue, Watkins, traveling into Stearns County. The information was passed on to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
