Watkins police blotter

There were a total of 54 police calls in Watkins during the month of August 2013. (Watkins is policed by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.) Among them were 6 medical calls, 6 complaints of suspicious vehicles/persons, 4 animal complaints, 4 agency assists, 3 disturbance complaints, 3 traffic stops (resulting in 2 warnings and 1 citation), 2 911 hangups, 2 assist the public, 2 forgeries (plus 1 theft by forged check), 2 harassment/stalking complaints, 2 noise complaints, 2 warrants; and there were 1 each of the following: welfare check, child abuse/maltreatment, civil complaint, domestic call, driving complaint, fire call, drunk driver investigation, juvenile trouble, property-damage accident, security check, sex crime offense, suicide attempt, tampering with motor vehicle, unwanted individual, and vulnerable adult.

Thursday, Sept. 12, just before noon, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-car rollover on CR 133 just NE of 322nd Street in St. Wendel Township.

Dylan Mendel, age 19 of St. Cloud, was driving a 2002 silver Jeep Wagon northeast on CR 133 when he was distracted by a bee inside the car. When Mendel was distracted, he drove his car off the road into the right ditch. Losing control of the car caused the car to roll over. Mendel was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross where he was treated for his injuries.

Assisting the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was Gold Cross Ambulance and St. Joseph Fire/Rescue.

Make a disaster plan for National Preparedness Month

September marks the 10th annual National Preparedness Month. This annual event, led by FEMA, encourages individuals to take appropriate steps towards emergency preparedness for all hazards.

While all hazards are important to prepare for, weather related disasters are particularly impactful in this region. Whether it is a tornado or flood, families should have a plan for what to do in the event of a natural disaster. These preparations should take into account all family members and property, as well as give clear directions for different disaster situations.

Kimball Police blotter

There were a total of 234 calls for Kimball police during August 2013. These included 84 verbal warnings, 85 complaints, and
65 citations or arrests.

Among the Kimball calls were 29 extra patrols, 27 equipment warnings, 19 speeding tickets (and 14 warnings), 15 business checks, 11 seat belt tickets (and 5 warnings), 7 agency assists, 7 insurance violation tickets (and 7 warnings), 6 stop sign tickets (and 4 warnings), 5 citizen contacts, 5 driving complaint warnings, 5 inattentive driving warnings, 5 passing emergency vehicle warnings (and
2 tickets), 5 suspicious vehicle/person complaints, 4 driver license violation tickets (and 3 warnings), 4 medical calls, 4 motorist assists, 3 DAR/DAS arrests,
3 drug/narcotic arrests, 3 license plate/tab violation warnings (and 2 citations); there were 2 each of the following: alarms, animal complaints, assaults, bar checks, domestics, matter of information, warrant service, welfare checks; and there were 1 each of the following: accident, arrest and detain arrest, careless/reckless driving warning, disorderly conduct warning, forgery complaint, hazard report, juvenile problem complaint,  minor consumption/possession ticket, noise complaint, open container ticket, passing on right warning, and public urination ticket.

There were a total of 42 calls for Kimball police in the town of Fair Haven during August 2013: 10 citations, 17 complaints, and 15 verbal warnings.

Among the calls were 10 speeding tickets (and 5 warnings),
4 equipment warnings, 3 agency assists, 3 citizen contacts, 3 juvenile problem complaints, 2 motorist assists, 2 welfare checks, and one each of the following: alarm, domestic warning, driver license violation warning, insurance violation warning, license plate/tab warning, noise warning, seat belt warning, suspicious vehicle/person complaint, theft report, and unwanted individual complaint. 

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

Sept. 3, Jacob Scott Omara, 31 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake on a Wright County warrant for violation of an order for protection.

Sept. 4, Bryant Patrick Russell Stucky, 19 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake on an apprehension and detention order from the MN Department of Corrections.

Sept. 7, Christopher Allen Rasset, 43 of Annandale, was arrested in Monticello on the charge of second-degree DWI.

Sept. 7, Christian Arthur Sorenson, 34 of Clearwater, was arrested in Clearwater on the charges of domestic assault by strangulation and interference with a 9-1-1 call.

Sept. 8, Brandon Allen Wirgau, 27 of Annandale, was arrested in South Haven on the charge of fifth-degree controlled substance violation.

Sept. 9, Travis James Dunfee, 20 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on a Wright County warrant for third-degree controlled substance violation.

There were 28 property-damage accidents, 5 personal-injury accidents, and 3 car-deer accidents.

There were 4 arrests for DWI,
2 underage-consumption arrests, and 64 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013

1:19 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office observed a suspicious vehicle on County State Aid Highway 6, Collinwood Township. The deputy made contact with the driver and several other individuals and after investigation arrested Billy Curtis Harrison, 22 of Annandale; Charles Lee Harrison, 20 of Annandale; one juvenile male and one juvenile female on pending charges of felony possession of stolen property.

8:30 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Central Avenue South, Watkins. One individual was transported to the
St. Cloud Hospital.

1:21 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at St. Anthony Manor, Watkins.
One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

4:51 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Central Avenue North, Watkins. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

4:55 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of criminal damage at a residence on 657th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township.

5:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of found property on the roadway near Mies Outland, MN Highway 55, City of Watkins.

6:22 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a request from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office to check the welfare of an individual at a residence on County State Aid Highway 30, Manannah Township. The deputies made contact with the resident and the Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Gold Cross Ambulance were dispatched for a possible medical. One individual was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital. Deputies also made contact with another individual at the residence and after investigation arrested Steven Anthony Walberg, age 50, of Finley, North Dakota, on a Meeker County misdemeanor warrant for contempt for failing to obey the judgment of the court.

Saturday, Sept. 7

11:21 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suicidal female at a residence on Cedar Avenue South, Watkins. A short time later Watkins Ambulance was paged to the residence. Watkins Ambulance cleared with no transport and the deputy transported the female to Meeker Memorial Hospital for evaluation. A report was taken.

1:57 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two vehicle property damage accident on MN Highway 55 and County State Aid Highway 17, Forest Prairie Township. MN State Patrol responded and will be writing the report.

10:58 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of suspicious activity at the Clear Lake Public Access, 657th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township. The deputies made contact with several individuals who were having vehicle problems and found all to be okay.

Friday, Sept. 6

6:06 a.m. a Meeker County deputy came across an abandoned vehicle on 375th Street, Manannah Township. The vehicle was determined to not be a road hazard.

8:23 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a car/deer accident on MN Highway 15, Dassel Township. The deputy made contact with the driver and determined that the vehicle was not drivable and a tow company was contacted to remove the vehicle from the roadway.

11:35 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a cellular 9-1-1 call in the area of County State Aid Highway 36, Manannah Township. Additional information on the caller’s location was received which was forwarded on to the Eden Valley Police Department.

Thursday, Sept. 5

5:10 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft by check from the Kingston Minimart, MN Highway 15, Kingston Township.

11:25 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Cedar Avenue South, Watkins. One individual was transported to the
St. Cloud Hospital.

Wednesday, Sept. 4

12:38 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Central Avenue South, Watkins. One individual was treated on scene and no transport was needed.

4:50 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of cows on the roadway on County State Aid Highway 2, Forest Prairie Township. There were no cows on the roadway upon the deputy’s arrival and the owner had rounded most of them up.

11:50 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 657th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township. One individual was transported to the
St. Cloud Hospital.

2:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Fire Department for a grass fire in Luxemburg Township, Stearns County.

4:22 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft by check at Jack’s BP, Veterans Drive, Watkins.

9:00 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an animal complaint on County State Aid Highway 2, Forest Prairie Township. The information was documented as the Sheriff’s Office was already aware of the situation.

Tuesday, Sept. 3

6:19 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at the Millner Heritage Winery, MN Highway 15, Kingston Township. The deputy found everything to be okay at the business.

5:29 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and took a report of criminal damage to property at a residence on 367th Street, North Kingston Township.

6:02 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft at a residence on County State Aid Highway 34, Forest Prairie Township. 

7:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Eden Valley Police Department with a disturbance at a residence on Meeker Avenue East, Eden Valley.

Monday, Sept. 2

11:37 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a dog complaint at a residence on 4th Street North, Watkins. The dog was secured and a message was left for the owner to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

11:53 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle theft at a residence on 280th Street, Kingston Township. 

1:52 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a dog complaint from a residence on 365th Street, Manannah Township. The owner picked up the dog before the deputy’s arrival.

2:19 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft of lights from a dock from a residence on 748th Avenue, Kingston Township.

3:15 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance for a medical at the Hilltop Healthcare Center. One party was taken to Buffalo Hospital.

4:59 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a threats complaint from a residence on 602nd Avenue, Manannah Township. 

6:33 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 318th Street, Kingston Township. One individual was treated on scene and was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by a private vehicle.

Aug. 26, Phillip Lee Harrison, 24 of Annandale, was arrested in Albion Township on the charges of disorderly conduct and filing a false police report.

Aug. 27, Linda Sue Gipson, 52 of Annandale was arrested in Stearns
County on an apprehension and detention order from Wright County.

Aug. 27, Jordan Tyndale Vaughan, 24 of Annandale, was arrested in Albion Township on the charges of domestic assault and domestic assault by strangulation.

Aug. 28, Bruce Leroy Hansen, 45 of Clearwater, was arrested in Silver
Creek Township on the charges of domestic assault by strangulation and interference with a 911 call.

Aug. 28, Cody Lee Richard Duane Hawes, 22 of Cokato, was arrested in Sherburne County on a Wright County warrant for third-degree burglary.

Aug. 29, Michael Anthony Sparks, 38 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale for violation of a no-contact order.

Aug. 29, Dustin Michael Sullivan, 37 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of domestic assault.

Aug. 30, Jacob Matthew Houck, 20 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on charges of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and a Hennepin County warrant for damage to property.

Aug. 30, Patrick James Geislinger, 42 of Watkins, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of third-degree DWI.

Aug. 30, Timothy John Lang, 55
of Maple Lake, was charged with
misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.

Aug. 30, John Charles Wagner,
28 of Annandale, was charged with misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.

Aug. 30, Raul Rocha, 29 of Eden Valley, was arrested in Monticello on the charge of false information to police.

Aug. 31, Christopher Anthony Baker, 27 of South Haven, was arrested in Annandale on the charges of disorderly conduct, fourth-degree assault and criminal damage to property.

Sept. 1, Bernard Glenn Sansoucie Jr., 35 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of third-degree DWI.

Sept. 2, Natasha Christine Frey,
29 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of fifth-
degree controlled substance violation.

There were 29 property-damage accidents, 11 personal-injury accidents, 1 hit-and-run accidents, and
2 car-deer accidents.

There were 7 arrests for DWI, and 57 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Watkins. The dog was secured and a message was left for the owner to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

11:53 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle theft at a residence on 280th Street, Kingston Township. 

2:19 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft of lights from a dock from a residence on 748th Avenue, Kingston Township.

3:15 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance for a medical at the Hilltop Health Care Center. One party was taken to Buffalo Hospital.

4:59 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a threats complaint from a residence on 602nd Avenue, Manannah Township. 

6:33 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 318th Street, Kingston Township. One individual was treated on scene and was transported to the
St. Cloud Hosp. by a private vehicle.

Sunday, Sept. 1

11:50 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions on 367th Street, Forest Prairie Township. Upon arrival of the deputy the owner of trailer was advised to move the trailer off of the roadway.

3:24 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on
Lynden Avenue East, Kimball. One individual was transported to the
St. Cloud Hospital.

Saturday, Aug. 31

12:56 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at Hilltop Health Care Center on Luella Street in Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

3:23 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad, per the request of the
Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, for a medical at a residence on MN Highway 22, Eden Lake Township. One individual was assisted at the scene.

10:07 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a dog complaint at a residence on Cedar Avenue North, Watkins. The deputy was able to locate the dog and it was secured at the residence.

1:55 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a property damage accident at Ugly Tom’s Valley Quick Stop on Meeker Avenue West, Eden Valley.

6:11 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched weather spotters, per the National Weather Service, which advised that Meeker County was in a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Reports were received of heavy rain in the entire county as well as minor damage to one of the CP Railroad crossing arms on State Street North, City of Eden Valley. CP Railroad was contacted and repairs were made, and there were no further issues.

Friday, Aug. 30

12:41 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at Hilltop Health Care Center on Luella Street in Watkins. One individual was transported to Buffalo Hospital in Wright County.

12:43 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at Manhattan Toy on Park Avenue East, Eden Valley. The deputy was cancelled before arrival.

3:14 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance for a medical at the Hilltop Healthcare Center, Watkins. One party was taken to St. Cloud Hospital.

3:29 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint on 617th Avenue, Manannah Township. The party requested extra patrol in the area.

3:45 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a trespassing report on 365th Street, Forest Prairie Township. 

5:37 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a cabin burglary on Lake Francis, 748th Avenue, Kingston Township.

8:14 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist a resident on Lake Francis, 748th Avenue, Kingston Township.

8:25 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a possible order for protection violation at a residence on 367th Street, North Kingston Township.

9:43 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office transferred a cellular 9-1-1 call to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office for a report of a one-vehicle roll-over in the area of County Road 2 and 46th Street Northwest, French Lake Township.

11:09 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Central Avenue South in Watkins. One individual was treated at the scene.

Thursday, Aug. 29

12:50 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of suspicious activity near Hilltop Care Center, Luella Street, Watkins. 

11:47 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a civil issue at a residence on 730th Avenue, Kingston Township. The deputy advised the individual of their options.

6:21 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Eden Valley Police Department with a report of a property damage accident in the area of State Street North and McCarthy Avenue, City of Eden Valley. The Eden Valley Rescue Squad was later dispatched, per the request of the Eden Valley Police Department, for a possible medical with the driver.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

7:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of check forgery at Jack’s BP on Service Road North in Watkins.

1:06 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a civil issue at a residence on 375th Street, Manannah Township. The deputy advised the individual of their options.

4:48 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance and the Eden Valley Rescue Squad to a medical at Todd’s Place on State Street North, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

Tuesday, Aug. 27

6:40 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on County Road 48, Eden Lake Township in Stearns County. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

9:13 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and took a report of a theft at a residence on MN Highway 55, Manannah Township.

9:14 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and took a report of an animal complaint at a residence on MN Highway 24, Kingston Township.

12:26 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched
Watkins Ambulance to a report of suicide threats at a residence on Central Ave. So., Watkins. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for evaluation.

3:31 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of criminal damage to property at a residence on 748th Avenue, Kingston Township.

6:09 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of harassment at an address on Meeker/Stearns Street, Watkins. The deputy made contact and advised of options.

Monday, Aug. 26

4:01 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence on Meeker Stearns Street, Forest Prairie Township. The deputy advised the individual of their options.

4:56 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took information of suspicious activity at a residence on Western Avenue North, Watkins.

6:23 p.m. while on patrol a deputy came across two dogs standing on MN Highway 55, Manannah Township. The deputy was able to coax the dogs back to the residence where they belong.

This September is National Preparedness Month (NPM). The event, now in its ninth year, is a nationwide, month-long effort hosted by the Ready Campaign and Citizen Corps, encouraging households, businesses and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies. Stearns
County Emergency Management has committed to participate in National Preparedness to encourage readiness throughout
Stearns County. Stearns County
Emergency Management will have preparedness displays at the
Stearns County Administration Building and the Stearns County Service Center in Waite Park.
