Youth showcase year of 4-H learning at Meeker Co. Fair

More than 315 youth from across Meeker County have registered to bring over 2,780 4-H projects to this year’s Meeker County Fair. 4-H general (non-livestock) exhibits will be judged Wednesday, July 31, and 4-H livestock shows will take place Thursday and Friday, Aug. 1 and 2. In addition to exhibiting projects, 4-H’ers are very actively involved throughout the Meeker County Fair. Just a few of the activities that they will take part in include: working in the 4-H Foodstand, giving livestock demonstration, participating in a dog demonstration, performing as part of Arts In (musical group), and sharing their animals during a pet show. A schedule of 4-H events at the Meeker County Fair includes:

Thursday, Aug. 1

8:30 a.m. 4-H Rabbit Show

10 a.m. 4-H Horse Fun Show

1 p.m. 4-H Poultry Show

2 p.m. 4-H Cloverbud Horse Show

4-H Fashion Round Up

The Meeker County 4-H Fashion Review was held Tuesday, July 16, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. The Fashion Review Committee helped to plan this event. This year’s theme was “Fashion Round Up”. 

The judging process allows 4-H’ers the opportunity to:

Build self-confidence and pose by developing an understanding of “self” which aids in the selection and making of clothing that is becoming and expressive of one’s personality.

Fairhaven Lions new officers and member awards

The Fairhaven Lions recently installed their new officers and board members for the 2013-2014 Year. District governor-elect Donna Landwehr W-2013-06-06-Induction-of-Officers--1
and her husband past district governor Bill Landwehr did the Order of Installation of New Officers for the following members: president Sherry Menson, secretary Judy Dahl, treasurer Steve Menson, 1st VP JP Dahle, 2nd VP Gail Wake, 3rd VP Mark Schindele, board members: Alice Borchert and Ruth Schuster, membership board past president Shirley Fischer and Lynda Mertens, tail twister Dewey Schuster, Lion tamer Keith Fischer. Lions Clubs are dedicated to serving their communities. If you would like to be a part of the largest branch of service organizations in the world, talk to a Lion member - we’d love to have you join us. Our meetings are the first Thursday of every month at various locations, in the summer we have potluck at the Fairhaven Park.

Watkins Legion dinner Aug. 6

Watkins American Legion Membership Dinner is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 6. Social hour is
6:30 p.m., dinner is at 7:30 p.m., and the meeting is at 8:30 p.m.

Spouses are welcome, as well as anyone interested in joining our Legion Club.
