Kingston American Legion and Auxiliary met Sept. 24

The Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Post 483, and Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Auxiliary met Tuesday evening, Sept. 24, 2013, for their regular monthly meetings. Auxiliary president Micki Turja called the meeting to order with Rose Olson, secretary, reading the minutes of the last meeting, and taking roll call with 28 auxiliary members present. Prayers were led by chaplain Chris Jeppesen.

The American Legion members joined the auxiliary members for the opening program. All members repeated the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, sang the Star Spangled Banner, and they repeated the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion and Auxiliary.

Separate business meetings were then held.

In memory of our auxiliary members Dorothy Jensen and Opal Hedlund, president Micki Turja draped the auxiliary charter, and held a memorial service in their honor with prayers by chaplain Chris Jeppesen.


EV Library has handouts about MNSURE

Eden Valley Area Library has informational handouts about the new MNSURE health care. An informational video is also available to watch via computer. Eden Valley Area Library has three computers available for patrons use if you don’t have one available to you. To access the information, go to:, there is a two-minute video to watch. Librarians will not give advice – but can help patrons access the information on the computers.

New Eden Valley Area Library hours are: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 p.m.-6 p.m., Wednesdays noon-3 p.m., Fridays 5:30-8 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m.-noon.

Lake Union Cemetery meeting Oct. 8

The Lake Union Cemetery meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Lake Union Covenent Church. If any questions, please call Dave Peterson at (320) 236-7693.


Kimball Legion auxiliary meeting Oct. 9

The regular meeting of the Frederick A. Metcalf Unit 261, American Legion Auxiliary will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9.
This will be a potluck luncheon followed by the meeting.

Valley Victors report

The Valley Victors 4-H Club held their September pizza party and election of officers Monday,
Sept. 9, at the Eden Valley Event Center. Roll call was name your favorite part of 4-H over the past year. The club discussed their goals and plans for the next year. The club’s project/area of interest for the next year is wildlife. The 2013-14 club officers are: Shelby Kuechle-president, Arnie Gruenes-vice president, Greg Lux-secretary, Mckenna Ludwig-treasurer, Sawyer Kuechle-reporter, Adrienne Lipinski-photographer/historian, and James Gathje-game leader.

Thank you to the 2012-13 club officers on a job well done. Thank you to Bridget Lux for being the club’s key leader for the past three years. Also, thanks to Lisa Ludwig and Ann Lemke for filling that position. The next meeting will be Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Steve and Carrie Ludwig residence.
