Children of all ages were awed by magician and illusionist Jared Sherlock at the Kimball Area Public Library's summer reading program kickoff and ice cream social Monday,
June 10, at Willow Creek Park. The library has a number of special events and programs scheduled throughout the summer.
The independent Eden Valley Area Library has received new books for teens. These and other books are ready to borrow for summer reading.
Great River Regional Library (GRRL) will begin its annual Summer Reading Program (SRP) for children and teens ages 0-18 Monday, June 10, continuing through Saturday, Aug. 10 The SRP will be offered at all 32 GRRL locations in Central Minnesota.
Two programs are offered: “Dig Into Reading” for children from birth through sixth grade, and “Beneath The Surface” for children entering grades 6 through 12. Children entering sixth grade may choose to register for either program. “Dig Into Reading” includes a baby/toddler program for ages 0 to 3 to enjoy with their parents/caregivers. The Annandale Public Library is offering a class for teens and adults on how to create your own free eBooks. The class is being offered twice: 7 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, and Wednesday, June 19. Both classes cover the same material: how to create free eBooks for your e-reader or tablet using multi-chaptered fanfiction stories. Please bring your laptop computer. The attendance limit is five per session and preregistration is required.

Sunshine Storytime – June 11
The Annandale Public Library is offering a Sunshine Storytime series for children ages 3 to 7 at 10 to 11 a.m. beginning Tuesday, June 11. Children will enjoy stories, songs and a fun craft. Sunshine Storytime will also take place June 25, July 9 and 23, Aug. 6 and 20.
Magician Jared Sherlock – June 11
Magician Jared Sherlock will perform at the Annandale Public Library 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 11. His presentation is for children 3 to 12 and their families. Sherlock blends magic, juggling and audience participation for a high-energy, interactive, comedic event. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Ice Cream Social and Book Sale – June 10
The Kimball Public Library invites people of all ages to enjoy magic, ice cream and books at the Ice Cream Social taking place in the Willow Creek Park Shelter from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 10. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program, watch a magic show, and maybe buy a book from the 4-H book sale with all proceeds benefiting the Kimball library. Award-winning comic magician and illusionist Jared Sherlock will entertain the audience at 2:30 p.m. His performance is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
