Jewelry crafting class at Kimball Library Feb. 8

Teens and adults are invited to learn the art of Steampunk Jewelry making with artist Jen Anfinson at the Kimball Public Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8. Steampunk is a style inspired by vintage clockwork and steam-driven mechanical influences. Anfinson will teach participants new skills and show them how to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry from unexpected pieces such as clock parts, keys, chains, ribbons and more. All supplies are included, and participants may bring additional pieces to incorporate. The attendance limit is 12 and preregistration is required. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Preprinted tax forms not available at area libraries in 2014

Preprinted tax return forms will not be available at area libraries in 2014.

The library is discontinuing the provision of preprinted tax forms because of difficulties in obtaining forms and instructions.

“The IRS has done a poor job of getting all of its information and all of the forms available in a timely manner,” said Karen Pundsack, the library’s associate director for patron services. “We want people to have a good experience at the library, but where tax forms are concerned, that’s been taken out of our control because the arrival of the forms has been unpredictable.

“Library staff will provide assistance in locating helpful resources. However, we are not financial professionals and cannot offer tax advice or help in filling out tax forms,” Pundsack said.

‘Make Tracks to Your Library’ beginning Jan. 2

The program begins at all 32 library locations Thursday, Jan. 2, and ends Saturday, Feb. 22. The program is for adults and teens in sixth-grade or older. Its theme is “Make Tracks to Your Library.”
