Kimball graduates 2013 D.A.R.E. class

The entire fifth grade at Kimball Elementary School completed their nine-week D.A.R.E. program with Stearns County Deputy Sheriff Gina W-IMG 5456Feldewerd (far left). Their graduation ceremony was held Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 20, in the KES gym. Each student was required to write an essay on what the D.A.R.E. program meant to them, and four students were selected to read their essays during the ceremony Wednesday; below are those four students with Deputy Feldewerd (in back) Oliver Straley and Amanda Curtis, (in front) Zack Holtz and Madison Streit. Each student received a certificate of completion, and those who read their essays received a D.A.R.E. mascot stuffed animal.  This was Deputy Feldewerd’s fourth and last year in the D.A.R.E. program. (D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, and their goal is to provide children with the information and skills they need to live drug- and violence-free lives. Kimball superintendent resigns

In a letter dated Nov. 13, 2013, Kimball schools superintendent John Tritabaugh resigned, effective June 30, 2013.

Tritabaugh was hired as a one-year, part-time, interim superintendent. That was eight years ago.

Tritabaugh has made it no secret that this would be his last year as interim superintendent. His resignation letter only makes it official, and allows the school board now to initiate a search for a replacement.

The question now may be how  to hire (and pay for) a full-time superintendent.
