Each year, operation of the Watkins pool has cost about $35,000 more than it takes in from user fees. The City of Watkins has been footing the bill to make up the difference.
This year, the Watkins council hired a new pool manager, Nora Rohrbeck, to help turn things around.
A pool committee was quickly formed. Before the snow melted, they were already hashing out ideas for fundraisers.
The pork chop feed Saturday, June 8, was the first.
Minnesota Pioneer Park in Annandale will host a Ladies Luncheon in the Big Woods Museum lower level starting at
11 a.m. Saturday, June 22.
The theme is “The Way We Were.” You are welcome to come in an old-time costume or wear a vintage hat and bring your favorite tea cup! The luncheon starts off with some original 78’s with music from a bygone era, and then the luncheon with special guest speaker. We will have some fabulous door prizes. There also will be a vintage display, and you can visit our new exhibit on the World Wars in the upper level of the Big Woods Museum. Call the office at (320) 274-8489 to purchase tickets. Luncheon tickets are $8.50 per person.
Minnesota Pioneer Park is a non-profit Historical Museum, solely supported by our fundraising, special events, admissions, and occasional grants. Special events are an important part of our fundraising efforts that allow our facility to remain open to the public, as well as to provide educational tours for children.
Fr. Al Stangl started his service to God June 1, 1963, and he continues to serve area residents in his retirement. He visits Heritage House to celebrate Mass with the residents twice each month. He is seen here with Joyce Quast LPN/Manager at Heritage House where residents and staff helped him celebrate his Golden Jubilee as a priest. Those at Heritage House of Kimball are very grateful to Fr. Al for his continued service and we wish him many more years of serving
the Lord. Submitted photo.
