Candidates sought for Little Miss Watkins Pageant

The Watkins Lioness Club will again be sponsoring the Little Miss Watkins Pageant during the Kraut ’N Wurst annual celebration in August.

All little girls who are full-time residents of Watkins with a Watkins address: who have completed kindergarten through second grade may qualify for the pageant.

15th annual Valley Daze Car & Tractor Show

Saturday, June 22 at EV-W Elementary School

Registration is from 8 to 11 a.m., show is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Spectators are free, show participants are $10. Concession stand is on the grounds; door prizes are all day; awards are at

Inaugural pool benefit surpassed expectations

Each year, operation of the Watkins pool has cost about $35,000 more than it takes in from user fees. The City of Watkins has been footing the bill to make up the difference.

This year, the Watkins council hired a new pool manager, Nora Rohrbeck, to help turn things around.W-IMG 6490

A pool committee was quickly formed. Before the snow melted, they were already hashing out ideas for fundraisers.

Ladies Luncheon June 22 at Minnesota Pioneer Park in Annandale

Minnesota Pioneer Park in Annandale will host a Ladies Luncheon in the Big Woods Museum lower level starting at
11 a.m. Saturday, June 22. 

The theme is “The Way We Were.”  You are welcome to come in an old-time costume or wear a vintage hat and bring your favorite tea cup! The luncheon starts off with some original 78’s with music from a bygone era, and then the luncheon with special guest speaker. We will have some fabulous door prizes. There also will be a vintage display, and you can visit our new exhibit on the World Wars in the upper level of the Big Woods Museum. Call the office at (320) 274-8489 to purchase tickets. Luncheon tickets are $8.50 per person. 

Minnesota Pioneer Park is a non-profit Historical Museum, solely supported by our fundraising, special events, admissions, and occasional grants. Special events are an important part of our fundraising efforts that allow our facility to remain open to the public, as well as to provide educational tours for children.
