The lawn decoration in front of one Watkins home is clearly a play on a Happy Thanksgiving. Two turkeys in the car have a “hunter” strapped to the car roof. Here’s wishing you and yours a wonderful day with family and friends.

Landmark 15th year of helping to feed local communities
The CP Rail Holiday Train will pass through our area and stop Sunday night, Dec. 15. Approximate times of stops: 6 p.m. Buffalo, 7:30 p.m. Annandale, 9 p.m. Kimball. No stop is planned for Eden Valley this year, but will pass through town around 10:30 p.m.
The schedule, available on CP’s website at www.cpr.ca, and on CP’s Facebook page, outlines plans for the “train of lights” to partner with communities in raising food and money for local food banks.
The American Red Cross will be at the Watkins Village Hall from 1–7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, for a blood drive. Because this is the season of giving, consider donating because donors can give someone hope for today, tomorrow and for the future. One gift of blood can save up to three lives.
There are two ways to make an appointment: Go to www.redcrossblood.org, and put in the zip code 55389, and you will be able to schedule yourself, or call Theresia at (320) 764-7251. Previous donors who have not scheduled by early December will be contacted. If you have questions about your eligibility to give, call the Red Cross at (866) 236-3276 option 3.
New donors are needed so ask a friend to come too. Start boosting your iron intake and remember to bring a photo ID or your Red Cross Donors card with you on Dec. 11.
It was her 21st birthday Friday, Nov. 15. She and her roommate were out, starting the day’s celebrations early. The last thing she expected was to wake up in a hospital. The lucky thing is that she woke up.
Brittany LaFave, KAHS class of 2011, was a passenger in her friend Caroline Connolley’s 2004 Pontiac GrandAm. They had just left Annandale and were headed north on County Road 7 to celebrate LaFave’s 21st birthday. Joseph Estevez, 59 of St. Joseph, was driving his 2002 Jeep Cherokee westbound on County Road 146. He failed to stop at the stop sign at County Road 7 and broadsided the passenger side of the car with the 21-year-old women.
