Fairhaven Lions new officers and member awards

The Fairhaven Lions recently installed their new officers and board members for the 2013-2014 Year. District governor-elect Donna Landwehr W-2013-06-06-Induction-of-Officers--1
and her husband past district governor Bill Landwehr did the Order of Installation of New Officers for the following members: president Sherry Menson, secretary Judy Dahl, treasurer Steve Menson, 1st VP JP Dahle, 2nd VP Gail Wake, 3rd VP Mark Schindele, board members: Alice Borchert and Ruth Schuster, membership board past president Shirley Fischer and Lynda Mertens, tail twister Dewey Schuster, Lion tamer Keith Fischer. Lions Clubs are dedicated to serving their communities. If you would like to be a part of the largest branch of service organizations in the world, talk to a Lion member - we’d love to have you join us. Our meetings are the first Thursday of every month at various locations, in the summer we have potluck at the Fairhaven Park.



Watkins Legion dinner Aug. 6

Watkins American Legion Membership Dinner is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 6. Social hour is
6:30 p.m., dinner is at 7:30 p.m., and the meeting is at 8:30 p.m.

Spouses are welcome, as well as anyone interested in joining our Legion Club.

Kimball Bloodmobile July 31


The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Kimball Wednesday, July 31. The Bloodmobile is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 261, and will be held at the Kimball Legion Clubrooms from noon to 6 p.m. Please consider donating blood for the many who need your help.

Here is some history about the Red Cross:

Clara Barton was first introduced to the global Red Cross network when she visited Switzerland. Inspired, she returned home and campaigned to bring the
U.S. into the Red Cross family. Finally, in 1861, Barton and a circle of associates founded the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C.

The Kimball Rod and Gun Club announces firearm safety sign-up 7-8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at the Kimball Rod and Gun Club.

Youth participate in State Shoot

Monday, July 8, marked the beginning of a 5-day event in Alexandria for the annual Minnesota Trap Associations State Shoot. The start of the 5-day event begins with Youth Day. Kimball Rod and Gun Club had six youth shooters participate in the shoot. All shells were donated and shooters competed in 200- and 100-bird events. The Kimball Rod and Gun Club would like to congratulate our youth shooters for participating!

Minn. Pioneer Park hosts artisan expo

Saturday, July 27, Minnesota Pioneer Park in Annandale will sponsor an area artisan expo from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Artisans will demonstrate, display and sell their work in many of the museum’s historic buildings. Come and experience a wide variety of art including painting, blacksmithing, wood carving and chipping, pottery, photography, spinning, quilting, weaving and more. Musicians will perform in the Finnish Church. Summer-time food favorites also will be available including our famous root-beer floats.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, & under age 5 Free.
