KAHS Speech Team working hard this season

Saturday, Feb. 22, the team travelled to Maple Lake where they won a first place Small-Team trophy. Adrienne Rainer placed third in Creative Expression, with Isiah W-Kimball-Speech-2014-03-01 16-02-14 673Allen taking eighth in the same category. In Extemporaneous Reading, Karlee Beehler and Caitlin Carr earned fourth and fifth places, and Erin Diffley took home a seventh-place ribbon in Original Oratory. Holly Dahlinger placed sixth in Serious Drama, and Maicy Vossen placed seventh in Serious Drama and took fifth in her double-entry category Storytelling. Lidiah Zipp earned a seventh-place ribbon in Serious Prose, and Olivia Straley finished off the individual awards with a Champion medal in Storytelling. It was a great showing for the team.

But there would be a cold and windy week ahead of them, with practices cancelled for blizzard conditions. But the speechers came out strong on Saturday, March 1, at Sauk Centre, the first meet with a final round. Kimball had 5 finalists: Maicy Vossen earned eighth place in Serious Drama, and Olivia Straley took second in Storytelling. Caleb Anderson qualified for his first final round of his career and took a Championship medal in Discussion. Holly Dahlinger took top honors in Serious Drama, while eighth-grader Adrienne Rainer, the team’s spelling expert, took first place in Creative Expression. Earning Honorable Mentions were Karlee Beehler in Extemporaneous Reading, Megan Bisila in Informative Speaking, and Erin Diffley in Original Oratory. The team brought home a second-place trophy in the Medium Team division.

The Kimball Senior High Vocal Department did very well at Solo/Ensemble contest at Paynesville High School Monday, Feb. 24.

KES fourth-grade boys basketball team champions

Kimball FFA teams successful

The Kimball FFA Chapter is having some huge success as individuals and teams. The Kimball FFA will be sending it’s poultry team (Jarod Olson, Seahara Mancini, Cole Czech, and Tommy Locken) to state in April as the team placed fourth at regions in January. The Kimball FFA will be sending Shelby Schiefelbein to State as well after she placed first in Disscussion Meet. The Kimball FFA also sent three individuals (Brianna Jonas, Tommy Lochen, and Joelle Edwards) to the Region V SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) and Region V Officer Interview Day. The Kimball FFA is proud to announce the newest member of the Region V Officer Team, Joelle Edwards, to be installed into office in April. Tommy Lochen has also been selected to be on the State Nomination Commitee to take place at State Convention In April. The Kimball FFA has also sent three individuals (Abbey Schiefelbein, Samuel Ehlinger, and Joelle Edwards) to Skills Fest, FFA Speaking Contests such as Prepared Public Speaking and Job Interview. All of our speakers did very well this year.

Lastly, the Kimball FFA would like to acknowldge Feb. 15-21 as National FFA Week. The Kimball FFA will celebrate FFA Week at a later time in the year to be announced at a later time. The Kimball FFA would like to thank everyone who has supported the Kimball FFA thoughout the years.

Cat in the Hat reads at KES again
