St. Anthony’s Church of Watkins celebrates 125 years, tackles building project
This is a special – and busy – year for the parishioners of St. Anthony’s Church in Watkins.
The congregation is celebrating its 125th anniversary. A special Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, with the bishop presiding.
And the church is working on a building project which includes tearing down the old rectory and school and building a new social center, according to Renee Miller, the church secretary.
Planning for this project began in 2004 when the parish built an addition to the church that made the facility handicap accessible. That was Phase 1 of the project.
