May 30-June 1: Kickoff Music Festival Central MN

W-Blue-Yodel-9The 22nd annual Minnesota Homegrown Kickoff Music Festival will be May 30 through June 1 at El Rancho Mañana in Stearns County. This three-day outdoor music and camping festival will feature 19 bands from Minnesota that perform bluegrass, old-time stringband, and related genres of acoustic music. Add in the hundreds of amateur pickers on the grounds and the woods will be ringing with fiddles, banjos, and guitars. The annual event is produced by the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association.

Memorial Day services at KES

The public is invited to take part in the Memorial Day services at 10 a.m. Monday, May 26, in the Kimball Elementary School auditorium. The flag will be raised outside the school after the American Legion marching units arrive.

• Prayers at five war memorials led by Fr. Jerome Naduvathaniyil 

• Commander Alvin Jungles presents 50- and 60-year certificates to Jim Donnay for 50 years and Ed Niesen for 60 years

• Mass led by Fr. Jerome and Fr. Gross

• “Taps” played by Maria Holdvogt and Andrew Schlangen

Assemble for the parade at the Legion Post at 10:30 a.m. Parade lineup will be on the west side of the high school at 11:15. The parade will consist of the colors with guard, all veterans and members of the American Legion, POW-MIA Honor Guard, American Legion Auxiliary, Junior Auxiliary, Eden Valley Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts.

The parade will begin on Cossairt Avenue, west to State Street, and south to the Legion Park.

All servicemen and women who served at any time are asked to participate in the parade and program.

The public is invited to view the parade and take part in the program at the Legion Park at 
11:30 a.m.
