From 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 7, the Eden Valley Area Library will host Seed Savers 101 & Perennial Plant Exchange at the library.
Grown any giant cucumbers or zucchini lately, or have a favorite tomato? Learn the principles of dry and wet seed saving, seed cleaning, and storage for maintaining good germination rates. Pat & Anne Benson attended a 3-day conference at Seed Savers in Decorah, Iowa, and will be here to share what they learned with you!
Share the bounty of your perennial garden with your neighbors! Please pot or bag and label any plants you’d like to share and leave them outside the library on the sidewalk before 10 a.m. You are welcome to take home anything you would like to add to your garden!
The Eden Valley Area Library was pleased to host Watkins, Minn., native and local author Richard Maus to a group of students. His book Lucky One explains the timeless story of a child’s struggle to make it through pain, depression and despair. The students had first-hand experience at what the disease of polio was and still is, an issue in some countries.
“I want readers to understand how the loner whom everyone ignores or teases could become isolated, depressed, alienated and angry - and to motivate them to do something about such situations. ‘Making it’ should not be a matter of getting lucky.” (Richard Maus)
