Library enriches catalog entries with NoveList Data

The online catalog at Great River Regional Library just got better.

Every day, more than 2,600 individuals search the catalog from home or other locations outside the library. Catalog entries describe each of the books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and magazines in the library system’s collection, and tell the reader which location an item is at, whether it’s on the shelf or checked out, and when it is due to be returned. More than 950,000 items are described and accounted for.

Inaugural art show a success

Eden Valley Area Library is now a year old. To celebrate, they held an art show Sunday afternoon, Nov. 17.

Even road construction and only a partial sidewalk didn’t keep people away. Neither did the dreary weather.W-IMG 5193

A number of artists brought their works to share; some demonstrated their art as well. Kathy Loch, the P.E.N. writing group, PJ Connors, Donna Rech,
Theresa Lambert, Pat Schultz, Sandy Millerbernd, Chris Gustafson and Laura Tollefson, Deb and Jerry Schulz, Jan Sheets, Marsha and Cal Davidson, Kathy Egen, Trisha Field, and Misty Aho shared their artwork. Art completed by EV-W elementary and high school students lined the walls of the event center too.

Author Dean Urdahl spoke about his latest book, Conspiracy. He talked about the local connections to the assassination of President Lincoln and to various conspiracy theories surrounding that tragedy. Conspiracy follows Uprising, Retribution, Pursuit, and The Collar and the Gun. A long-time high school history teacher, and current State Representative, Urdahl’s talks are always lively and packed with interesting historic facts.
