Four Meeker County 4-H’ers competed at the 2013 Minnesota State 4-H Dog Show. The 2013 State 4-H Dog Show was held Sept. 21 and 22, at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. 4-H’ers who have completed fourth grade and receive blue ribbons at the county level are given the opportunity to compete at the state level with their dogs in agility, obedience, rally, and showmanship judging. Meeker County’s results include:

Meeker County 4-H’ers competed at the 2013 Minnesota State 4-H Horse Show. The 2013 State 4-H Horse Show was held on September 13th – 16th at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. 4-H’ers who have complete 6th grade and won a trip at the County 4-H Qualifying Horse Show in either Pleasure or Games classes are given the opportunity to compete at the state level with their horses.

The 2013 Meeker County 4-H Awards Celebration will be held beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. The 2013-2014 Meeker County 4-H Federation Officer Team will be installed at this time, along with awarding scholarships, volunteer awards, club officer awards, and many others. More than 6 million young people across the country will be celebrating National 4-H Week, which will take place Oct. 7-13. Meeker County 4-H uses National 4-H Week to celebrate the great things that the 4-H youth development program offers young people and to highlight the incredible young people who work each day to a make a positive impact on their community.
During 4-H week, local clubs will create window displays at local schools and business throughout the county that promoted 4-H. Local 4-H youth, volunteers, and staff will also connect with their communities by visiting third-grade students across the county to share their enthusiasm and passion for 4-H. Meeker County 4-H Ambassadors will also be featured on newsmaker on KLFD radio, AM 1410, Monday, Oct. 7. Listen for daily 4-H school and radio announcements. All of these activities will expose potential new audiences to our wonderful program and also help develop leadership skills in our young people. We will end our 4-H celebrations with our annual awards celebration held on Oct. 13.
Families interested in learning about the innovative curriculum, and other opportunities at St. John’s Prep, are encouraged to attend the upcoming Discovery Day on Friday, Oct. 4. Students currently in grades 5-11 are welcome to attend classes, meet the teachers and students, and experience what it’s like to be a part of the St. John’s Prep community. Parents are also invited to attend information session with administrators of the school.
Guest students arrive before 8 a.m. and are matched with a “host” student for the day. The Middle School (for incoming grades 6-8) Discovery Day ends after lunch at approximately 12:30 p.m. For the Upper School (for incoming grades 9-12), Discovery Day guests are invited to spend the entire day in classes.
