Historic Salem Church to host summer picnic

Sunday, Aug. 11, the Historic Salem Church in rural Paynesville is hosting the annual Salem Fest beginning at 12:30 p.m. with an old-fashioned pot-luck picnic. This event has a long-standing tradition with friends and former members gathering to enjoy a potluck lunch. Please bring a dish to share and your own plates and utensils. Beverages will be provided.

At 2 p.m., the afternoon program will feature special music from the Bethlehem Church Ensemble, led by Brenda
Handel-Johnson. The group often plays at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, and they will be playing and singing some favorite hymns from the past Salem gatherings. All are welcome to join in the afternoon of stories, fellowship, entertainment and hymn singing. The offering will go the Salem Restoration Fund to benefit the continued restoration of the church. After the program, ice cream sundaes will be served.


Pearl Lake Parish Festival

The 2013 festival of Holy Cross Parish was held Saturday and Sunday, July 13-14.W-DSCF0527

The pork chop & fresh sweet corn dinner brings folk from near and far. The air-conditioned gym/cafeteria is a comfortable refuge when it gets a little too warm outdoors. The guys sure know how to grill ’em each year!

There was an abundance of food and drink, naturally. 


Special services at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church July 25

The Old Apostolic Lutheran Church will be having special church services with their Elders from Swedish Lapland at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, July 25. The church is located just north of Dassel about 1 mile west of Highway 15 at 70647 280th Street, rural Dassel. Everyone is welcome.


Ostmark Lutheran Homemade Ice Cream Social

The Ostmark Lutheran Churchmen Homemcade Ice Cream Social  will be held from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the church at 32721 680th Avenue in Watkins.

They will be serving pie and homemade ice cream, hotdogs, BBQs, lemonade, milk and coffee. Everyone is welcome.
