Watkins Santa Claus Days Dec. 14

Santa Claus is coming to town! The festivities begin with the Watkins Lioness hosting Christmas shopping for kids from

9-11 a.m. in the Watkins Village Hall. Bring your children to buy gifts for parents, grandparents, siblings, and teachers. All gifts are $1 and Lioness members will help wrap and tag them.

The Watkins Theater Group will be hosting their annual Christmas play at 1 p.m. This year’s production is “Disorder in the Court”. Admission is free, but food shelf donations are greatly appreciated. There will be random drawings for prizes after the play and Santa will stop in for pictures. Bring your own camera, please. The Watkins Chamber of Commerce will also be handing out bags of candy.

Following the program, the Watkins Lions will be providing free hot chocolate and hot dogs at the skating rink with horse drawn sleigh rides by Windy River Percherons. Everyone is welcome.

Congratulations Thanksgiving winners!

Last month, local businesses sponsored coupons in the Tri-County News for two weeks. Hundreds of coupons were turned in, and Monday, Nov. 25, twenty-one winners were selected.

Each received a certificate for $25 in groceries, redeemable at any of the three town grocery stores (Gohmann’s Foods in Kimball, Stein’s Thriftway Foods in Watkins, and Valley Meat & Grocery in Eden Valley).

American Red Cross ‘Holiday Mail for Heroes’ mailbox open through Dec. 6

The American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region invites Americans to show their gratitude and best wishes for those who serve our country, veterans, and their families by sending Holiday cards this Holiday season.

Through Dec. 6, Americans can create and send cards to service members, veterans and their families. The cards will be distributed across the country and around the world.

Just for fun: Happy Thanksgiving

The lawn decoration in front of one Watkins home is clearly a play on a Happy Thanksgiving. Two turkeys in the car have a “hunter” strapped tow-Watkins turkey hunter the car roof. Here’s wishing you and yours a wonderful day with family and friends.
