The summer fun has begun for Kimball area youth. Kimball Community Education has completed the first weeks of summer recreation including volleyball camp, Jr. Cubs Basketball, Greater MN Track & Field, a new Highway 55 3 on 3 basketball league, and the Jr. Golf Program. The summer lineup of recreation also includes high-school-age level sports camps; volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, golf and league play.
Blast Ball, T-Ball and Rookie Ball programs will run through the month of June.
The Great River Music Club and the National Federation of Music Clubs recently awarded a second gold cup in piano solo to Cassie Erickson. To achieve a second gold cup,
six or more years of performance in the festival are required. There were more than 400 students who participated in the festival at the College of St. Benedict Saturday, Feb. 23.
Cassie is a student at Kimball Area High School, and has just completed the 10th grade.
The Kimball Boys’ and Girls’ basketball programs held a basketball camp at Kimball Area Elementary School last week, Monday through Thursday, June 3-6. Participants in the camp consisted of boys and girls in kindergarten, first, and second grade. Players learned about the different fundamentals of basketball related to ball-handling, dribbling, passing, and shooting. Campers participated in a number of contests and competitions, both individually and as a team over the course of the week. All of the 34 campers worked extremely hard and improved tremendously throughout the week.
