April 2014 Students of the Month

In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners w-studentsMoAprilare recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Dairy Queen gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to the Kimball Chamber of Commerce and a private donor for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for April 2014:


KAHS Senior High Choir Concert May 15

The annual Kimball Senior High Spring Choir Concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15. It will be held in the Cafetorium at the Kimball Area High School. Featured in the concert will be “I Believe” and “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” which earned the choir the State Superior Award, the highest possible award. Many soloists, duets, and trios will also be performed. Metals will be presented to State Superior soloists, as well as certificates to excellent award students.

The public is cordially invited to attend this concert presented by our talented Kimball Area High School students. The director is Arlene Sands, and Lori Miller will accompany some numbers.

Schiefelbein takes second in State FFA Discussion Meet

The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation’s Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee and the Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation worked with the Minnesota FFA to sponsor the 12th FFA/Farm Bureau Discussion Meet competition. Fourteen regional FFA finalists from across the state competed at the Minnesota State FFA Convention on Sunday, April 27, at the Continuing Education Conference Center Building on the University of Minnesota campus.W-FFA-Discussion-Meet-Scholarship-Recipients

Rebekah Aanerud of the Morris Area FFA Chapter won the competition and Shelby Scheifelbein of the Kimball FFA Chapter took second place. Joe Ramstad of the Forest Lake FFA Chapter and Jackson Triplett of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted FFA Chapter advanced to the final round. Aanerud and Scheifelbein both receive a college scholarship sponsored by the Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation.


Kimball NHS volunteer service May 3

The KAHS National Honor Society did ditch clean up Saturday, May 3. Kimball NHS has been cleaning part of Highway 22 since 2008. Kimball art students attend NLS 5A Arts Festival

Wednesday, April 30, 10 visual art students attended the Section 5A Arts Festival at New London Spicer High School. After setting up theirW-Kimball-Art-securedownloadart to be judged, they visited two art studios, Greenwater Garage and Gallery and Gossmann Pottery to learn how and where professional artists work. After eating lunch at Jack’s Coffee Shop, they headed back to the school to get the results of judging.

“It was a fun day and a great experience, we got the opportunity to look at student’s art from other schools and receive advice to improve our own,” said Bisila.
