Thank you to all the donors at the Watkins Blood Drive Wednesday, July 24. Sixty-four units were collected and our goal would have been exceeded, but there was a power outage the last hour, and donors who came were unable to give. Donors and volunteers, your patience was greatly appreciated throughout the day.
Those earning pins were Connie Hesse for 2 gallons, Doris Rathmann for 6 gallons, and Roxanne Dick for 9 gallons. Thank you and congratulations.
Many volunteers are instrumental in making the drive successful. Thank you to all who helped promote this drive: the organizers, telephone recruiters, the Tri-County News and Eden Valley-Watkins Voice for newspaper articles, the City of Watkins for hall and marquee use, the area businesses for allowing posters, and for those who readied the hall.
Thank you to all the helpers the day of the drive: those who unloaded and loaded the trucks, those who greeted and registered donors, canteen helpers, those who prepared and served food, and to those who reset the hall. Thanks to the following organizations who provided food or workers: the American Dairy Association, Watkins Lions, Catholic United Financial, St. Anthony CCW and Social Concerns.
If you could not come or could not give because of the outage, area opportunities are at the Kimball American Legion Wednesday, July 31, from 12 to 6 p.m., or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 1 to 7 p.m.
Make a difference, volunteer at a blood drive.
Make a difference, donate.
