Eden Valley Blood Drive thanks

The American Red Cross visited Eden Valley Tuesday, Aug. 20. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out in your own special way.

Thank you to the Legion and the Legion Auxiliary for serving in the canteen, picking up the tab for the snacks and the facility use donation. Thank you to the members of the Assumption Church for serving the meal for the workers. Thanks to the American Dairy Association for the donation of the butter and cheese. Thank you to all who helped advertise; the Tri-County News, EV-W Voice, other local papers, marquee, churches, local businesses, radio and television stations. Thank you to the phone callers, the people that set up and helped put everything back in order after the drive, and to the wonderful staff at St. Paul’s Lutheran for their time and willingness.

A warm-hearted “Thank You” to the donors. Ninety-eight donors came to donate; 3 were first time donors. The American Red Cross deferred 10 donors. Ten donors took part in a double red cell donation. The end result was 98 total units collected, which was over goal, which is wonderful being that people are so busy during the summer. Thank you for taking the time to make blood donating a routine in your life.

The American Red Cross is always looking for donors; if you know someone who may be interested, invite them to come along with you next time. Next scheduled drives in Eden Valley are Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, and Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

Thanks from family of Adella Theis

The family of Adella Theis would like to extend our thanks to all those who offered support, thoughts, and prayers after the loss of our beloved mother. Thank you to all those who stayed with mom at the hospital during the final hours so that she was never alone, which brought comfort to us. Thank you to the Dingmann Funeral Home, especially Deb, for their compassion, concern, and professional manner in which they handled the visitation, the funeral, and so many other details. Thanks to Father Naduvathaniyil, the pallbearers, those who helped prepare and serve the dinner, and all those who helped in any way. Thanks to the Paynesville Hospital and Eden Valley Clinic staffs for the kind and wonderful care given to mom, especially over the past weeks. Finally, thanks to our loving families who traveled from many distant places, to our relatives, and many friends who came and shared in the celebration of life for our mom, grandma, and great-grandma.

Watkins Swimming Pool says thanks

A huge thanks to the Farmers State Bank of Watkins for sponsoring an entire day of swimming for everyone Friday, Aug. 23, and also giving mini beach balls, pencils and stickers for the kids. This event has been the biggest crowd the pool has had this season! Again, thank you to the Farmers State Bank of Watkins for Makin’ A Splash happen at the pool.

The Teen Night also was held Friday, Aug. 23, under the lights at the pool. Several teens enjoyed music and water contests with hotdogs and root beer floats. Thank you to AgVenture Feed & Seed for donating the ice cream for the floats. Also, to the following businesses that donated prizes:  Jack’s BP, Red Goat Bar & Grill, Diva’s, Knaus Sausage House, Triple R Grill & Bar, Ugly Tom’s, EV-W Eagle Boosters, and the Valley Inn.

To the volunteers who organized, chaperoned and worked that evening a special “thanks again” for Makin’ A Splash happen at the pool!

The Watkins Swimming Pool will be open from noon to 8 p.m. thru Sunday, Sept. 1. The season is almost done and next summer, 2014 Celebrates the 20th Year for the Pool. Exciting new events are being planned, stay tuned!

KAHS Activities thanks

The Kimball Area High School Activities Department thanks all those who contributed to and participated in the District’s “State Entrant” float in the Kimball Days parade this year. We are very proud of our student competitors and their coaches for their dedication and accomplishments. We thank them for sharing their Cubs pride and inspiring future champions. KAHS also appreciates the generous support for the float from A.M. Maus and Son, Powder Ridge, and Miller’s Sewage Treatment Solutions. Together, we represented the best we can be and how high we can soar!
