Holy Cross School in Marty (also known as Pearl Lake) held their seventh annual dinner and auction Saturday evening,
April 13. The theme was “A Night in New Orleans,” and Jack and Ginger Zwilling were the hosts.
There were nearly 100 items donated for the silent auction, including carved wooden ornaments, a number of various gift baskets, garden ornaments, and a number of overnight stays and other gifts donated by local and near-local businesses. There really was something for every interest and taste.
Nearly 50 items were donated for the live auction that followed the dinner. (John Meagher donated his services as auctioneer.) A Pearl Lake fishing trip and an overnight ice fishing excursion were among the live auction items. A couple of hand-made quilts were auctioned off, as was dinner for four prepared by Father Mark Ostendorf. There also were cookies, pork and beef, soups, breads, and other edibles; lawn and garden implements, decorations and furniture; Twins and Vikings tickets, and even a round of golf; and a number of very special items made and donated by the students at Holy Cross School.
Congratulations to the school and to the community that keeps it going, now more than 100 years.
