Saturday, Nov. 2, There will be an International Soup Luncheon and Open House, from 11:30 a.m.-
2 p.m. at Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Church, 601 7th Ave. S. in
St. Cloud. Delicious homemade soups from around the world will be served. Suggested donation is $5.
So far, our menu includes Texas Chili, Russian borscht (beef soup), Jamaican pumpkin, Greek Fava (split pea) and Lebanese Lemon Lentil. There will be something for everyone, meat eaters and vegans alike!
The St. Nicholas Parish plans their fall breakfast for Sunday, Oct. 27.
They will serve from 9 a.m.-noon. The menu includes sausage, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, French toast with toppings, rolls, fruit, juice, milk, and coffee. Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for ages 5-10, and preschoolers are free. There will also be a bake sale and a raffle.
Two years ago, I featured Nicholas Evans of Spring Hill, Fla., who reads this column in Hernando Today. His story was so complex and unique, I recently sensed a progress report on his status was in order.
If you remember, Nicholas in 1999 scored a high 1450 on his PSAT, was a dean’s list student, and was about to attend Florida State studying meteorology. He had a bright future.
St. Wendelin’s Parish will serve their Fall Breakfast from 8:30 a.m.-noon Sunday, Oct. 27, at Mary Hall in Luxemburg.
The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for kids age 5-12, and children 4 and younger are free.
The menu will include egg bake, sausage, fresh fruit, freshly baked carmel rolls, toast, and beverages.
There will also be a bake sale and raffle.
Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville has scheduled their 64th annual Chow Mein & Pork Supper for 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. A free-will donation will be accepted for the meal. “Quick service” take-out meals will be available. No phone orders, please.
