Litchfield group presents concert Oct. 13

The Litchfield Area Rainbow Singers, a women’s choral group under the direction of Keith Johnson, will present their annual fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday,
Oct. 13, at the Historic First Presbyterian Church located at 225 N. Holcombe Avenue in Litchfield. There will be a wide variety of music from sacred to pop. Featured guest artists will be the Green Family of Litchfield, and percussionist Paul Nicholson. We welcome the public to this concert. There will be a free-will offering to help defray expenses. Please note the new location.

 

Hog roast and barn dance at Hilltop


Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins held a hog roast and barn dance for their residents in July. The hog was roasted by Calvin and Melissa Fischer. Volunteers Ralph Linn, Roman Huberty W-Hilltop-HC-barn-dance-3and Ed Kuechle helped to cut up the hog. After the hog roast picnic, residents enjoyed listening and dancing to fiddle and piano music by Greta Mergen-Jerrett and Mary Streit.

Learn to paint outdoors Oct. 19

Artists, interested in learning outdoor painting techniques, may sign up now for an outdoor paint-out instructed by Richard Abraham, president of Outdoor Painters of Minnesota. Artists will meet at the Dassel History Center, Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. Artists will go to a local farm where Abraham will demonstrate and instruct techniques. This class will focus on corn and is open to all artists, beginning to advanced.

The cost of the class is $20 if one has his/her own supplies, or $25 including all supplies needed. The event is sponsored by the Dassel Area Historical Society and Seven Gables Gallery of Dassel.

For more information and to register for the paint-out, call the Dassel History Center at (320) 275-3077. Registrations are due Friday, Oct. 4, to facilitate supply planning. A minimum of 10 participants is needed to conduct the class.

Search for Miss Teen Stearns County announced

If you are single, never been married, and between the ages of 13 and 18, applications are being accepted for the title of 2014 Miss Teen Stearns County. Miss Teen Stearns  County will represent her county at the Miss Teen Minnesota pageant, which will be held at the “Ritsche Auditorium, March 8, 2014, in St. Cloud.

The young lady chosen as “Miss Teen Stearns County” will become an ambassador from the Stearns County area, and will receive an official title and sash.

The young lady chosen as Miss Teen Minnesota will receive a prize package and scholarship totaling $10,000, and the chance to represent Minnesota at the 2014 Miss Teen International pageant in Jacksonville, Fla.

The American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” is the official Charity of the Miss Teen Minnesota Pageant.

Kingston Lions Blood Drive Oct. 15

The Kingston Lions are planning a Blood Drive to be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Kingston Community Center. The location is 30840 722nd Avenue in Kingston.
