Quilt exhibit Nov. 23, 2012-Feb. 28, 2013, at Stearns History Museum and Research Center
A little inspiration went a long way.
Finding the book, Earth from Above by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, on the donation cart at her local library, fiber artist Caron Lage was intrigued by the beautiful aerial photos. Many have a similar rhythm to the quilts that Lage and other quilters/artists employ in their work.
Lage shared the book with a couple friends who were equally enthused. They purchased the other two books of photography to be inspired by, but not duplicate. The results are nearly 90 pieces of art spanning the vocabulary of quilting and fiber art techniques. There are 60+ artists represented in this display.
The cost is $5; members are admitted free. The Stearns History Museum and Research Center is at 235 33rd Ave. So. in St. Cloud.
