EV-W Early Childhood Screening

Eden Valley-Watkins School District will be having Early Childhood Screening for children who are three and a half years old and up to those who will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2013 who have not been screened. The screenings will be held Dec. 7, 2012, and March 1, 2013. Invitations will be mailed a month in advance of the screening dates to those children, who are age eligible, on the school census and those open enrolled to our district.

The State of Minnesota has mandated that all children must complete a developmental screening prior to kindergarten enrollment. The purpose of the screening is to be sure that all children are ready to learn when they enter school. The Eden Valley-Watkins School Readiness Program also needs students to be screened prior to starting preschool in the fall.

Screening is free of charge and includes developmental screening, hearing and vision screening, review or health history and immunizations, and assessment of height and weight. The complete screening takes about an hour to an hour and a half.

Any questions or if your child or a child you know is age eligible and does not receive information about the screening, contact Anno Johnson the EV-W District Licensed School Nurse at (320) 453-2900, ext 2135.
