Kimball street projects nearing completion for season

All streets involved in the water/sewer replacement project have now been paved with a first layer of asphalt. The final layer is expected next spring. There is some work in alleys scheduled to begin soon, and before winter hits, but much of this will not require excavation.

The water tower has been sand-blasted and repainted, inside and out. Gone is the signature bright blue Kimball water tower. It is now beige with a black base and lettering. By the time of publication, the water tower should be put back into service. This week, though, water lines will be flushed of possible sediment caused by reduced usage during the past two months the water treatment plant and water tower were out of service. If you have city water, the city recommends keeping your water softeners off-line until this is completed, in time for the Thanksgiving holiday according to the city's engineer.

The city is again looking for a part-time zoning administrator/deputy clerk. (See ad on page 23 for job requirements.)
