Hilltop Health Care Center celebrates Veterans Day with residents and guests

Hilltop Health Care Center held a Veterans Day program Sunday afternoon, Nov. 11. Nine of the 15 veteran residents living there were able to attend. Several members of the Watkins American Legion (who sponsored the program) also attended and spoke briefly. Father Richard Gross told a tale or two of his days in Korea. Terry Nelson in the "Old Glory" shirt performed favorites and requests for the audience that included friends and family members of residents. "We greatly appreciate your sacrifice and service to our country, and for our freedom." Resident veterans include Phillip Arnold (Korea), Art Donnay (WWII), Norb Donnay (Army), John Hoffke (Korea), Jere Johnson (Navy), James Kascht (Army Reserves & Air Force), Ebert Konz (WWII), Gerald Lies (WWII), William Maurer (Korea), Dal Murphy (Navy), Gordon Nelson (WWII), Richard Reischl (Army), Donald Schake (Vietnam), Roger VanNurden (Vietnam), Rudy Yakopec (Navy).
