Robert McCarney of the Litchfield area died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. He was 91.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Church of Our Lady in Manannah with Msgr. Francis Garvey officiating. Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at Church of Our Lady in Manannah and one hour prior to the services Friday, also at the church. Eden Valley American Legion Post #381 will pray at 6:30 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m., andKnights of Columbus Bishop P.J. Casey Council 2029 of Litchfield at 8 p.m.
Robert E. McCarney was born June 14, 1921, in Litchfield to James "Len" and Mary (Hollihan) McCarney. He served his country in the U.S Army during W.W. II. Robert married Roselyn Severson Feb. 10, 1945, in St. Cloud. He was a farmer and lived in the Litchfield area all of his life. Robert was a member of Church of Our Lady in Manannah, Knights of Columbus Bishop P.J. Casey Council 2029 of Litchfield, Eden Valley American Legion Post #381, and the Last Mans Club. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, bowling, dancing, and visiting about the old days. Robert had a strong sense of faith and taught life lessons to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and son Emmett.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Roselyn of Litchfield; daughters and sons Marlys (and Richard) Olson of Mahtomedi, Thomas of South Range, Wis., Rosemarie of St. Paul, Janine (and Harold) Shepersky of Eden Valley, and Eugene of Litchfield; brother and sister Jerome (and Margaret) of Litchfield, and Geraldine (and Rollie) Lounsbury of St. Maries, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home of Eden Valley.
