Crow River Conference

Oct. 27

Women to hear Pastor Herbert Chilstrom

The Fall Gathering of the Crow River Conference Women of the ELCA will be held Saturday morning, Oct. 27, at Ostmark Lutheran Church, rural Watkins. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by brunch, special music, a presentation by Rev. Herbert Chilstrom, a Litchfield native, the first presiding bishop of the ELCA, and a business meeting.

Chilstrom will share stories from his book "A Journey of Grace" released a few months ago which traces his life story from birth until retirement as it intertwines with the church. The book focuses primarily on the formation and early years of the ELCA. He will also have with him the recently-released daily devotional book "Every Morning New" that he and his wife Corinne, also an ELCA pastor, have co-authored. Both books will be for sale following his presentation and he will sign copies. All proceeds go to the program of New Testament studies at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC).
