Adeline Johnson of Annandale died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. She was 90.
The family will be hosting a gathering at 1 p.m. prior to the service at Ostmark Lutheran Church, 32721 680th Avenue in rural Watkins, Thursday, Oct. 18. The memorial service will begin at 3 p.m.
Adeline M. Johnson was born April 17, 1922 to Joseph and Elizabeth Walters in St. Nicholas, Minn., one of 11 children. On Feb. 8, 1941, she married the one and only love of her life, Melvin Johnson. Melvin died Nov. 16, 1975.
Adeline was most at home in the kitchen baking her favorite treats and making an extra meal for anyone in need. When her children were teenagers, her home was the place to be. All were welcomed, fed and loved. She was a selfless caregiver for many. She enjoyed a game of solitaire, rummy and word puzzles. She was an avid reader, and loved current affairs.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband Melvin.
She is survived by and will be forever remembered by her children and their spouses Bill (and Marty) Johnson, Dave (and Barb) Johnson, Chuck (and Natalie) Johnson, Susie (and Roger) Salmela, and Mark (and Jody) Johnson; treasured grandchildren Mandy (and Bob) Rees, Merilee Johnson (and Rob Wilcox), Tim (and Sara) Johnson, Beth (and Maurice) Walker, Janelle Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Brian Johnson, Shane Salmela (and Angie Harms), Paige Salmela, Ryder Johnson, Cruz Johnson, and Jett Johnson; great-grandchildren Christian Pyle, Canaan Johnson, Reanna and Alexis Braun, Genesis Johnson, Kaleb Wait, Brayden and Bree Johnson; brother and sister-in-law Dan (and Marilyn) Walters, and many, many loving nieces and nephews.
